A second Canadian detained this week by Chinese authorities is being investigated for "jeopardizing national security,” according to Chinese news outlet Northeast News (东北新闻).

Michael Spavor was put under investigation on Dec. 10 by the local national security bureau in Dandong, in Northeast China’s Liaoning province, the report said.

The news comes at the same time that another Canadian, ex-diplomat Michael Kovrig, who works now with the International Crisis Group, was detained for the same suspected offense.
