China Green Bulletin: Beijing Sets Energy Security as Top Priority

China makes energy security top priority
Amid the global energy crisis, China must continue toward meeting its “dual carbon” targets based on the fact that coal is the country’s dominant energy resource, President Xi Jinping stressed in an article published in the latest Qiushi, a magazine affiliated with the Communist Party.
Premier Li Keqiang also stated China should make energy and power security its top priority to offset shortages and soaring prices caused by geopolitical tensions. The country should “unleash domestic high-quality coal production capacity” as soon as possible and remove production restrictions if needed to safeguard the domestic energy supply and price stability, Li ordered in a State Council meeting.
