The much-anticipated 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) commenced on Oct. 16 with a five-yearly work report by General Secretary Xi Jinping, setting the tone for ideology and policy in the coming years. Members of the new Politburo and Standing Committee will only be known once the plenary session of the 20th CPC concludes at the weekend.
